ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Committee’s Chairman for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Mushahid Hussain Syed said that maritime economy is pivotal for the economic prosperity of the country.
While talking to a private news channel, the senator said that the government has formulated a comprehensive plan for the security of Gwadar Port and all CPEC projects.
Hussain added that12000 army troops, 5000 policemen from Punjab and 2000 from Sindh have been designated to protect the CPEC land route while a special battalion of Pakistan navy special services troops is assigned with the duty to protect Gwadar coast.
He further revealed that the government will soon organize a conference on maritime economy which will be attended by delegations from China, Malaysia, Turkey, Iran and United States.
