LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer has advised traffic wardens to treat the citizens with pleasure.
During a first official lecture to traffic wardens on ‘behaviour and how to perform duty’ at the Alhamra Hall on Thursday, the top cop said that traffic wardens depict the face of Lahore police on roads and wardens with the slogan of ‘greeting before treating’ should treat all the citizens with respect and pleasure.
He added that traffic wardens were not only responsible for giving a safe and clear pathway to the citizens but also for security of their life and assets. “The citizens must also support them by law abiding. We are eliminators of iniquity and counters off depravity. That is why there is a dual responsibility on us. Allah Almighty prefers absolver to reprisal. So if a citizen is loud at a warden, even then he must not lose patience,” the CCPO added.
He appreciated DIG traffic for organising the lecture, saying that such lectures should be arranged in future too for all the wings of Lahore police. Home Economics College Principal Prof Farrah Yaqoob and a large number of traffic wardens attended the lecture.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Farrah Yaqoob said, “We should do justice to the authority given to us. Islam teaches us ethics, and we should make it evident by our behaviour that we are true followers of Islamic principles. We should preach the implementation of law by our behaviour.”
In his address, DIG Traffic Captain (r) Ahmad Mobin said that traffic wardens, besides implementing the law and ensuring smooth flow of traffic, should also educate citizens on traffic laws. He directed wardens to treat citizens with delicacy. He also advised the citizens to follow traffic rules and avoid using mobile phone while driving.
