LAHORE: A new motorbike ambulance service is being launched in nine divisional headquarters across the province to ensure prompt response to emergencies, even during rush hours and in congested areas.
Accordingly, the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has started the recruitment of 800 paramedical staff members, who will be trained as emergency medical technicians for managing the motorbike ambulance service, to be launched in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, DG Khan, Sargodha and Sahiwal.
Punjab Emergency Service Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer said that this was a good job opportunity for healthy, physically fit paramedical diploma holders who know how to drive a motorbike. “This motorbike service would further enhance the operational capacity of the emergency service in Punjab to provide swift respond to any emergency in these major cities of Punjab, especially in congested areas and during traffic jams.”
In this regard, induction process for recruiting 800 emergency medical technicians – 300 in Lahore, 100 in Rawalpindi, 100 in Multan, 50 in Gujranwala, 50 in Faisalabad, 50 in Bahawalpur, 50 in DG Khan, 50 in Sargodha and 50 in Sahiwal – has been started by publishing advertisement in leading national newspapers.
The interested candidates can submit completely filled online applications through the official website of Rescue 1122 and the National Testing Service (NTS) by January 8, 2017. Written and psychological tests of applicants will be held on January 14, 2017 at 9am at the designated places, as displayed on the Rescue 1122 and NTS official websites. Moreover, psychical, driving and skill tests will be conducted on January 15-16. The results and lists of qualified candidates for interview shall also be displayed on the websites by January 21, 2017 along with the interview schedule. The successful candidates will have a golden opportunity to be part of the lifesaving service.
The Rescue 1122 DG said that the main reason for the success of the service had been the recruitment of right staff and their professional training as emergency medical technicians. Therefore, he said, he would take all possible steps to ensure transparent recruitment of the best possible emergency staff and then to ensure that quality training was imparted to those selected.
