KARACHI: Citizens have been advised on preventive measures in regards to the recent outbreak of the Chikungunya disease by authorities.
The disease, which has affected several hundred patients, is spread by mosquitos. The symptoms of the disease include high fever, pain in joints, red spots, nausea and headaches.
The notification issued asked citizens to avoid mosquitos and ensure cleanliness in order to avoid the virus, adding that mosquito nets and mosquito repellant sprays should be used.
The health ministry, which issued the notice, also directed water containers to be covered, as the virus grows in stagnant water bodies. In addition, patients who have been infected by the disease have been advised to increase their intake of fruits and water.
