The Progressive Panel led by Muhammad Shahbaz Mian again swept the Lahore Press Club elections, after day-long polling was held on Sunday.
According to official results, Muhammad Shahbaz Mian was elected as President of the press club for year 2017 with 1092 votes. Opponent Javed Farooqi came in second place with 694 votes.
The current joint secretary, Zahid Gogi, also of the Progressive Panel was this time elected as the vice president with 937 votes with Nasirah Attique coming in second with 736 votes.
Abdul Majeed Sajid and Ahsan Shaukat, also of the group, won the seats for secretary general and joint secretary with 888 votes and 1038 votes respectively. In addition Sheraz Hasnaat won the seat of Treasurer with 978 votes.
Qasim Raza (652 votes), Shahnawaz Rana. (629 votes), Ismail Jhakkar (610 votes), Salman Qureshi (610 votes), Rizwan Khalid (605 votes), Salak (602 votes), Nauman Wahab (596 votes) and Nasir Ghani (587 votes), were elected as members of the governing body, six of whom represent the Progressive Panel and two who are members of the Journalists group.
