LAHORE: Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan on Saturday invited the members of Youth Provincial Assembly Punjab to work as youth representatives in their respective districts in collaboration with the Punjab government, particularly in the education sector.
Addressing the Dissemination and Mutual Learning Session of the Youth Provincial Assembly Punjab in Lahore, the minister encouraged the members to identify the gaps in the education sector at the district level, coordinate with the elected representatives in their districts and work in close collaboration at the administrative level. He said that in case of any complaint received from the member of the youth provincial assembly of any district, the Education Ministry would take serious action within 24 hours.
Appreciating the PILDAT’s initiative for providing a platform to the youth of Punjab to enhance their capacity, including parliamentary practices and the working of the Punjab Assembly, he said that the confidence level and interest of youth in national and provincial issues was inspiring.
The minister also announced that a visit would be facilitated for the members of the youth assembly in the 4th and last session of the Youth Provincial Assembly Punjab to the Education Ministry, where they would be briefed on status of education sector in the province.
Chairpersons of the youth standing committees presented their policy reports at the gathering. They also shared their experiences as the members of the YPAP. They shared that they had the opportunity to meet and interact with legislators. They also appreciated the opportunity provided to them to learn about the working of the Punjab Assembly.
Senator Mohsin Khan Leghari, Ayesha Javaid, and Dr Aaliya Aftab were also present at the session.
They too acknowledged and valued the efforts of PILDAT in training young people, particularly the youth of Punjab. Members of YPAP Steering Committee Syed Ali Raza Shah and Khusbhoo Ejaz, professor Kinnaird College were also part of the event, and appreciated efforts of PILDAT and the young members in making this new initiative successful.
Earlier, PILDAT President Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, presented an overview of the Youth Provincial Assembly Punjab. Senior Projects Manager Faheem Ahmed Khan presented in detail an overview of the modules offered in the YPAP sessions, the exclusive countering violent extremism workshops facilitated by PILDAT for the young members of YPAP, and the overall working during the three sessions.
In addition to the participation of members of Steering Committee, Youth Provincial Assembly Punjab, a large number of media and former members of Youth Parliament Pakistan attended the session.
The 4th and last session of the first batch of Youth Provincial Assembly Punjab will be held in January 2017.
