ISLAMABAD: Scholar Dr Talib Hussain Sial on Friday said that a complete educational revolution was needed to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare democratic state as per the vision of Quaid-i-Azam.
“This requires a complete revision of our syllabus at all levels, besides asking the teachers to inculcate love for the country in their students and to idealize Quaid-i-Azam as their role model,” he said.
He was delivering a lecture on “Quaid-i-Azam, Pakistan aur Hum” at Aiwan-i-Quaid in Fatima Jinnah Park. The lecture was organised by the Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC) in connection with the week-long celebrations of the birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad AliJinnah.
NPC Senior Vice Chairman Mian Muhammad Javed presided over the event, attended by literati of the twin cities. Anjum Khaleeq of the NPC conducted the proceedings.
Dr Talib said that Quaid-i-Azam was neither a religious figure nor a feudalist or industrialist, yet he was loved by everybody contrary to the usual trend of the subcontinent. The reason being that he was a truthful and trustworthy person who was devoted to work for the betterment of the people of the sub-continent, to help them overthrow the yoke of British slavery, he added.
Pointing out the shortcomings of the educational system Dr Talib said,”We have over 4 million students (male and female) in Madaris (religious ceremonies) but none of these teach them the subjects of Pakistan Studies, sacrifices of the Quaid-i-Azam and the objectives of the Pakistan Movement.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mian Muhammad Javed said a strong and progressive Pakistan could not be achieved without strong institutions.
An interactive session followed the lecture in which personalities like Dr Humaira Ashfaq, Dr Musarrat Parveen Neelam, Naeem Akram Qureshi, Tanveer Zuberi, Sheikh Mukhtar Ahmad, Wafa Chishti, Hafiz Noor Ahmad, Asghar Abid, Saeed Chishti, Uzair A Khan, Hakeem Muhammad Saharanpuri, Farah Deeba, Farkhanda Shameem and others participated.
