LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting on Friday which considered the purchase of additional laptops for needy students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that tens of thousands of students were benefitting from the laptop scheme of the Punjab government. He said that by providing these devices to talented students, the Punjab government had granted them their due right.
Sharif said that the use of modern technology was a need of the hour; therefore, the government had launched the laptop scheme for students and provided numerous laptops worth billions of rupees to deserving students so far. He said that this step served to empower the students. He said that more laptops would be given to students during the current fiscal year.
The minister said that the process of procuring laptops would be completed as early as possible.
Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Chief Secretary Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Advisor Dr Umer Saif and concerned authorities attended the meeting while the Planning & Development department chairman participated through video link.
