LAHORE: A man killed his cousin and injured his sister with sharp tool in Hadyara area on Monday in an honour-killing crime.
According to police, the girl was shifted to a nearby hospital in an injured condition while the accused managed to flee.
It is pertinent to mention that, in October this year, the parliament had approved bills aimed at the prevention of honour-killings in the country.
The bill stated an honour killing convict would at least be handed life in prison.
Earlier this year, a Pakistani social media star Qandeel Baloch was also allegedly murdered by her brother in one such incident of honour killing. Her killing left many in shock and drew severe criticism of the authorities.
Qandeel’s killing followed another murder of a British-Pakistani wife, Samia Shahid, in Jhelum – again in the name of ‘honour’.
