ISLAMABAD: The federal government has issued permits to three Saudi princes for hunting houbara bustard, which is an internationally protected bird species.
The permits for hunting the endangered bird in Balochistan and Punjab have been issued to Tabuk Governor Fahd bin Sultan Al Saud and the two sons of late Saudi Arabian King Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Sources said that Fahd bin Sultan had been given a special permit for hunting the bird in Awaran, Chaghai and Nushki. Moreover, Prince Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his brother Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud had been given permits for hunting in Layyah.
The Foreign Ministry has issued the permits through the Saudi Embassy, in which it stated that the Pakistani government had sent recommendations to the administration of respective provinces in connection with hunting of houbara bustards by Saudi dignitaries.
The hunting permits have been issued for hunting 100 houbara bustards in 10 days.
