ISLAMABAD: Talking on Fall of Dhaka, Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali said that they did not learn lesson from the past blunders due to which half of the country had lost.
Addressing a full court reference held in his honour on Thursday, he said, “We have attempted our best to strengthen not only the judiciary but the other state institutions also and to create harmony among them.”
The reference was held in Court Room No 1 where all the judges marked their attendance to bid farewell to Jamali.
“I am associated with the department of law and justice for the last over four decades. Out of this period over 24 years as practicing lawyer and remaining 18 years as judge of superior judiciary but my conscience is satisfy that I have given right to deserving persons,” he added and maintained that harmony among the state institutions is vital for the supremacy of constitution and good governance.
He said, “My ideas about the identity of the country are crystal clear which are mentioned in the past. Islam in fact is most easy and enlightened religion of the world which is the flag bearer of humanity, love, peace and brotherhood in the world.”
He also said, “We have defamed this peace loving religion in the world due to mutual indifferences, biasness, sectarianism, non-tolerance and to become the part of foreign conspiracies.”
Jamali said that nowadays every person talks about his rights but ignorant of his or her responsibilities and duties.
“Most of the state institutions have become failed. We as a nation have to fulfill our responsibilities to redress all evils.”
“There will be no hope of betterment in future until we fulfill our obligations,” the CJP concluded.
Supreme Court Bar Association President Rashid A Rizvi, Bar Council Vice Chairman Barrister Faroogh Naseem attended the full court reference. The chief justice will retire on December 31.
