Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday warned of dire consequences if the country’s economy continued on a downward path. In a statement, Sharif said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had failed to run the country’s economy. Shehbaz Sharif condemned and rejected the recommendation to increase gas prices by 45 percent. “There has been a mindboggling increase in the prices of gas, electricity and essential items. How can people and businesses survive?” Shehbaz Sharif also called for an increase in minimum salary to Rs 30,000 owing to the economic situation of the country. “These incompetent people, instead of experimenting on national interests, should just step down. The biggest change people want is for these people to be changed,” he said. Sharif added that PM Imran Khan’s incompetence had made Pakistan Asia’s worst-performing economy. “Time has proven that Imran Khan can only insult people and a country cannot be run on insults,” he said.
