RAWALPINDI: Federal of Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Monday announced an increase in rail fares while speaking to media in Rawalpindi.
According to details, the railways minister stated that the increase in rail fares is due to the recent downfall of Pakistani rupee against the US dollar.
Rashid said that internet services are now available at railway stations and we are also working to provide facilities for persons with disabilities, adding that they will introduce a tracking system as well.
Moreover, he announced that three new safari trains will run for tourists and the Rehman Baba Express which will travel from Karachi to Peshawar will be launched on December 23.
The minister further stated that he is going to Karachi to review the circular railway and has spoke to Chief Justice of Pakistan about this matter as he does not want people’s houses to be destroyed.
Rashid also clarified that Pakistan Railways contract employees will not be given permanent posts but they will be offered the option to apply for jobs after ads are published for hiring.
