KARACHI: Two people killed and 10 injured as a powerful explosion hit the Quaidabad area of Karachi on Friday night, police authorities reported.
According to details, the blast took place under the Quaidabad flyover near a crowded place where several vendors set up their stalls.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Irfan Bahadur stated that the police were still trying to figure out the exact nature and cause of the explosion.
The police officials have disclosed identity of one of the deceased as Pappu son of Mushtaq whereas the injured include Rasheed Rafique, Mushtaq Bilal, Haq Nawaz, Siddiq Dawood, Arsalan Tariq, Allah Ditta, Qamar Abbas, Shahabud din, Munir and Shahid.
The Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) official has also confirmed the death toll and told the media that at least five people are still in a serious condition.
Moreover, electric supply was disrupted in the surrounding areas due to power of the explosion.
Police are looking for any clues and have closed of the area where blast took place.
Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and asked for a report from the additional inspector-general of Sindh police.
