KARACHI: The Sindh home department has lifted the ban on pillion riding and rallies across the province on Sunday.
The home department issued an official notification which read: “The ban imposed for ten days on pillion riding, rallies and gathering of four persons has been withdrawn with immediate effect.”
On Wednesday, the Sindh government had imposed a ban on pillion riding for 10 days in view of the law and order situation across the province in the wake of protests and rioting after the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict ordered acquittal of Aasia Bibi who was facing execution over blasphemy charges.
The provincial government also banned processions and rallies as well as carrying of arms. Under Section-144 of the government, a gathering of no more than four people was allowed. As per the notification, the ban was imposed for 10 days.
