Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit China next week and meet President Xi Jinping, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.
Imran Khan, accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, will lead a delegation from Nov 2-5 which will sign several agreements on diverse fields, a statement by the Foreign Office said. He is also set to meet Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
“Prime minister’s visit is expected to provide further impetus to the existing strategic ties between Pakistan and China and break new grounds for broadening the bilateral partnership,” the statement said. After visiting Beijing, Khan is set to be a key note speaker at the First China International Import Expo in Shanghai, it added.
During the visit, the two sides will review the entire range of bilateral relations which have enjoyed a long history of mutual trust and cooperation. This will be Imran Khan’s first visit to China after assuming the office. The visit signifies the closeness and traditional warmth which characterises Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, the statement said.
The prime minister will also hold meetings with other world leaders on the sidelines of the Shanghai Forum besides holding discussions with leaders of Chinese financial and corporate sector.
