LAHORE: US Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday praised the Pakistan’s armed forces for their quick response to rescue a US-Canadian family.
Caitlin Coleman, her husband Joshua Boyle and their three children were rescued from terrorist’s captivity in an operation conducted by Pakistani security forces with the help of US intelligence agencies last week.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister House, Pence telephoned Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and thanked the government and armed forces of Pakistan for the safe rescue of the family.
“Pence thanked the government of Pakistan and praised the professionalism of army and the intelligence agencies for the swift response and safe recovery of the US national Caitlin Coleman, her husband Joshua Boyle and their three children,” it stated.
He also reaffirmed the importance of US-PAK bilateral relations and added that US would like to further build this relationship for peace and prosperity of the region.
Reiterating the state’s resolve to eradicate terrorism from its soil Prime Minister Abbasi assured that Pakistan would respond to any actionable intelligence shared by the US.
According to the statement, US Vice President also accepted the invitation of Abbasi to visit Pakistan in the near future.
Both leaders agreed to maintain cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.
