LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif left for Saudi Arabia on Saturday where he will join Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership is expected to meet Turkish premier and Saudi Arabia’s top brass.
Nawaz departed for Saudi Arabia a day after National Security Adviser retired Lt Gen Nasser Khan Janjua met him at Jati Umra residence in Raiwind, which reportedly lasted five hours.
Shehbaz, who is already in the kingdom, has held meetings with top Saudi officials.
The abrupt visits of PML-N leaders to Saudia Arabia have triggered speculations about a possibility of another NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) for the Sharif family, at a time when elections are around the corner.
Major opposition parties, including Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf( PTI) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), have already warned that they would not accept any NRO for Sharifs.
