ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi filed a review petition against the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan’s decision in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s disqualification case on Tuesday.
In a 13-page document, Abbasi insisted the SC to disqualify Khan over ownership of offshore companies and assets.
The petition filed by PML-N leader states that Imran has used deliberate means to carry non-direct transactions and that he ensured purchase of property as Benami so there remains no record of Khan acquiring assets in his own name.
The petition further stated that Khan used wife Jemima Khan and Rashid Ali Khan to carry out the purchase of offshore assets.
“All payments were purportedly made through Mr. Rashid Ali Khan so that there should be no record of payments being made by Mr. Khan. For all practical purposes Ms. Jemima Khan was being used to serve the same purpose that is desired to be achieved when acquisitions are made in the name of an Offshore Company.” The petition said.
In December, SC had cleared Imran of accusations regarding ownership of offshore companies since “no misdeclaration of assets was committed by Imran Khan in relation to the said property in his annual return filed with the ECP in the year 2014.”
