LAHORE: The ousted premier and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif has vowed to continue the struggle for democracy with his workers.
He was addressing the party workers after appearing before an accountability court in Islamabad on Tuesday.
“Party workers and the people of Pakistan are standing with me,” Nawaz said.
“You and I have to take the oath of country’s development very soon,” he said.
He went on to say that all the civilized countries made their ways only through democracy.
Referring to the army’s intervention in democratic setup, he said what the country is facing from last 70 years, is very unfortunate.
He once again criticized the Supreme Court’s verdict in Panama case, which disqualified him, and said that the people had rejected the verdict.
However, he did not break his silence over the government’s mishandling of the Faizabad protest.
He also held separate meetings with former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, incumbent Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Minister of State for Interior Affairs Tallal Chaudhry.
After having the meetings, he left for Lahore with his daughter Maryam Nawaz.
