A three member PPP delegation led by Provincial Minister for Information & Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, visited MQM Pakistan Bahadurabad Headquarter on Tuesday, to seek their support for their candidate for the upcoming Senate Chairman election.
PPP’s delegation also included Advisor Law & spokesperson for Sindh Government Barrister Murtaza Wahab and former Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. The delegation of Sindh’s ruling party was warmly received by MQM’s newly elected Senator Faisal Sabzwari and member Rabita Committee, MPA Kanwar Naveed Jamee. The meeting, which lasted for an hour was also attended by Senior Deputy Convener MQM Pakistan Aamir Khan, Javed Hanif, Rauf Siddiqui and Muhammad Hussain.
Later at a media briefing, Sindh Minister Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that on the directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, they once again visited MQM Pakistan Headquarter and requested them for their support of Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani for the Chairman Senate slot. They also congratulated MQM Pakistan for winning two senate seats, the Minister said and added that they were optimistic that our strong case would be pleaded in the MQM Rabita Committee meeting.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the Rabita Committee would take the decision in the best interest of the province and for people of rural and urban Sindh. He said many issues were discussed in detail today, particularly development of urban areas. The Minister said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari believed in the vision of development and he (PPP Chairman) had already issued directives to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and his team for development of whole province without any discrimination.
The minister added that Political door will always remain open and dialogue will continue, and noted that it is the beauty of democratic process. Though the provincial minister said that MQM did not support their candidate in the senate election, they came to them again in the hope that they would support Gilani for the Senate Chairman’s slot.
Earlier, MQM Pakistan Senior Dy. Convener Aamir Khan informed media persons that they were grateful to the PPP delegation for visiting them again. The PPP delegation greeted us on winning two senate seats as well as requested for support in the Chairman Senate election. He added that they could not take any decision immediately. The matter will be discussed in the Rabita Committee meeting and we will update PPP, whatever decision is taken by the Rabita Committee meeting. Aamir Khan added that apart from the senate election, they have once again requested the PPP delegation to work together for the betterment of urban and rural population. He concluded that the PPP delegation agreed to their demands and assured that the meetings would continue even after Chairman Senate election.
Yousuf Raza Gilani was fielded as a joint opposition candidate by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on Monday for the Senate chairman election scheduled for later this week.
