LAHORE: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders Babar Ghouri and Shamim Siddiqui have parted their ways from the party over ‘personal reasons’.
The leaders had been associated with the Altaf-led MQM for years.
Ghauri, former federal minister for port and shipping, said he resigned due to personal reasons. He clarified that he will not be joining any other faction or political party.
He said differences with the party developed after his “Pakistan Zindabad” tweet.
When asked whether he is leaving the MQM-Pakistan or the MQM-London, he said: “there is only one MQM that is in London”. He said he has never been part of MQM-Pakistan.
Shamim Siddiqui criticised Altaf Hussain’s August 22 speech and MQM-London’s anti-state activities after announcing his decision to quit the party.
