LAHORE: A newly-wed-couple from Kohistan was shot dead on the orders of a jirga in the locality of Mominabad, Karachi, the police said on Monday.
Reportedly Abdul Hadi and Hussaini Bibi got married against the wishes of their families and rented a house in Mominabad out of fear of their families who had wanted the couple dead.
On November 24, the locals spotted blood around the rented house the couple and informed the police about it.
Police investigated the incident and recovered the victims’ dead bodies from Qaimkhani graveyard in Ittehad Town and sent it to a nearby hospital for legal formalities.
Orangi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abid Baloch said that police have arrested the suspects along with their accomplices who were involved in the killing.
Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought a comprehensive report from Sindh Police IG.
Earlier in September, a couple was electrocuted on the orders of a jirga in Karachi.
