A resolution has been moved to the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday, demanding legislation for the children whose identity is unknown since their birth. The resolution was moved by the PML-N MPA, Hina Pervaiz Butt, who said that the legislation already exists for the transgender community, but the children whose identity, is not known since their birth is an important matter, as no law has been made for their rights. The lawmaker said children without identity face huge trouble at Nadra office due to their identity crisis. MPA Hina Butt said mostly parents’ make guesses about the identity of their children and deal with them in accordance with it. She submitted that the parents register their Names on their B-Form and commit mistakes by giving them wrong names that eventually cause them trouble in their lives. She has asked the house for legislation for the children whose identity is not clear and also amend the laws related to NADRA, so these children could not face any humiliation and difficulty due to the said identity crisis. She has also asked the house for providing a special health facility for treatment of such children and a special hospital should be built for them. When contacted, the PML-N MPA legislator said that she is determined to fight for the rights of those who struggle with the identity crisis, which has destroyed the lives of many. She added that her party PML-N stands for those deprived of their rights, and will continue to introduce similar legislations for the betterment of every marginalized faction of the society.
