LAHORE: Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), while tightening the noose of corrupt mafia, has arrested a number of officers of the irrigation department on charges of corruption worth millions of rupees.
Superintending Engineer LatafatQaseen and SDO Abdul Razzaq were arrested from Lahore, while XEN Hakim Ali and Sub-Engineer Suhail Anwar were apprehended from Sheikhupura. Raids were being conducted for the arrest of SDO Riaz Shah and BaildarGulzar and Rafiq and other beneficiaries.
According to the details, Anti-Corruption Headquarters Circle Officer Syed ZubairAkhlaq arrested Superintending Engineer of Irrigation Department LatafatQaseen and SDO Abdul Razzaq, who were found guilty of bogus payment worth Rs 180 million in Mechanical Workshop Mughalpura Lahore. Irrigation XEN AbidHussainZaidiwas also arrested in the said case.
SheikhupuraAnti-CorruptionAssistant Director Maqbool Ahmed arrested Irrigation XEN Hakim Ali and Sub Engineer SohailAnwer, who were found guilty for selling mud to contractors from Qadir Abad, Balloki link canal illegally.
A resident of Khokhar Town, NasirMehmood, lodged a complaint in this regard; and an inquiry was conducted. Anti-CorruptionRegional Directorate’s Technical Wing also conducted an inquiry and Technical Assistant Director Hamid Sattar, established a loss of Rs 1.6 million to government ex-checker. Anti-Corruption is conducting raids to arrest SDO Riaz Shah, BaildarRafiq and Gulzar and other beneficiaries involved in the case.
