PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has stressed the need for using modern technology in order to increase productivity of the provincial mines and minerals sector.
Imran Khan was attending a high-level meeting on the provincial mines and minerals sector at the Chief Minister’s House.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Minister for Minerals Development Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, Jahangir Khan Tareen and officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Anisa Zaib gave a presentation on the capacity of the province in natural resources.
Pervez Khattak said that natural resources of the province should be utilised for increasing the volume of revenue and generating employment opportunities.
He said that the provincial government was doing its best to make use of natural resources for increasing provincial assets and creating job opportunities for skilled workers. He said that plans were ready to make amendments to the mineral rules, and a roadmap would be presented in Beijing in March to make Chinese firms first contenders to search for these resources.
Stressing the need for utilising scientific methods to increase yield and productivity, the CM said that the government needed to enhance efforts for making the province a suitable market for minerals.
The provincial minister for minerals development informed the meeting about the department’s achievements and goals, along with methods and techniques that could enhance yield.
She said that scientific instruments needed to be used for long-term preservation of natural resources, adding that the provincial department was working hard for the prosperity of the country.
