PESHAWAR: The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDU) on Monday defused a 10-Kg bomb in Karkhano Market on Monday.
Police said it was a remote-controlled device. After identifying the suspected device, shopkeepers informed the police.
The BDU successfully defused the device. Tight security arrangements were made and main Torkham Road was blocked for traffic.
The shopkeepers thanked the BDS officials and praised them for protecting the citizens at the cost of their own lives. Meanwhile, Bannu Special Police Unit arrested three suspected militants and target killers and recovered a Kalashnikov rifle, three grenades, an anti-personnel mine, explosives and 30 bore pistols.
Police were informed about the presence of the alleged criminals in the Chando Khel area of Lakki Marwat where police raided the area and arrested the alleged target killers. The arrested persons were identified as Waliullah, son of Sahib Gul, a resident of Sara-i-Norang; Amanullah, son of Shewa Jan, a resident of Sarai Norang; and Ravib, son of Ragul, a resident of Lakki Marwat.
The arrested were members of banned terrorist outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and were involved in target killing, extortion and attacking law enforcers. The arrested persons also stole the rifle of police official Ali Badshah after killing him. The rifle was recovered from them. They have been shifted to an undisclosed location.
