ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court heard the suo motu case of the alleged torture of 10-year-old child maid when she was working at the residence of Additional Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan.
During the case proceedings, Advocate General Islamabad informed the court that Tayyaba could not be found. He said that a medical board comprising of doctors from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences had been formed to carry out a medical examination of the 10-year-old. In response to this, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar put forth the question about the possibility of conducting a medical examination without the child being present. He added that the whereabouts of the child should be ascertained and she should be presented before the court at the next hearing.
Moreover, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar ordered the police to carry out their investigation using modern methods and present their findings and conclusions by next Wednesday. The chief justice also directed that DNA tests should be conducted as two people were claiming to be the child’s mother.
Earlier, two people, identified as Zafar and Farzana, residents of Faisalabad, arrived at the Supreme Court and claimed to be the child’s parents. The court had summoned the parents along with DIG Islamabad and the SSP. Moreover, the accused in the case, Justice Raja and his wife have also been summoned.
Earlier this week, the matter was settled outside court as the father of the child pardoned the accused. In response to this development, the chief justice took suo motu notice of the case.
