ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday has told Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that newspaper clippings are not enough to prove anyone guilty.
“If you start hanging people on the basis of news clippings then your client will not survive either,” the apex court said.
A fresh hearing over the Panama leaks case, seeking Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif‘s disqualification, was heard by a five-member bench of the court.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was advised by the SC to submit any documents related to the case instead of verbal talk. The judge added that the case cannot be solved by itself.
The court asked PML-N to provide information about Hussain Nawaz’s business, his academic details and when Nawaz separated himself from the business.
When PTI’s lawyer Naeem Bokhari asked the court to omit Qatari prince’s letter, Justice Azmat Saeed said that the letter holds an immense significance in Sharif family’s defence. “If the court skips Qatari letter from hearing, it will be of no use for you as well,” he added
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif’s legal team submitted a written reply to the court’s questions that were asked in Wednesday’s hearing. According to details, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s public offices and businesses’ information was submitted in the court.
