TOBA TEK SINGH: West Punjab Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Mian Ashfaq on Wednesday demanded that the government compensate the grieving families of victims who died after consuming toxic liquor on the Christmas evening.
Talking to reporters, he also urged the government to bring the culprits to justice after conducting a fair inquiry.
During his visit to the grieving families, he assured them of his support, adding that he would take up their demands to the government.
Expressing his grief over the deaths, he said the incident should be an eye opener for the government and authorities concerned. He said most of the men died were the breadwinners so the government should help the grieving families. He described the incident as the worst of its kind in the city and asked the government to take prompt action to stop such incidents in the future. Ashfaq said toxic alcohol deaths were a regular occurrence in Pakistan especially on Christmas and New Year celebrations. He called for immediate action against the culprits playing with human lives.
