The dense fog prevailing in various areas of Punjab and Sindh disrupted the flow of air and road traffic. Routine traffic on Thursday was adversely affected in both the provinces. The visibility level on the National Highway from Lahore to Pattoki and Gujranwala reduced to zero due to which authorities directed citizens to avoid unnecessary travelling on the highways.
The traffic flow has been affected in Lahore, Pattoki, Gujranwala, Pindi Bhattian, Faisalabad, Mian Chunnu, Multan, and other adjoining areas. Due to zero visibility, the Lahore-Pindi Bhattian section of M-2, Faisalabad-Pindi Bhattian section of M-3 and M-4 section up to Gojra was closed for traffic.
Meanwhile, dense fog has also reduced the flow of traffic in different areas of Karachi. The fog has impeded traffic flow in and around National Highway, Malir, University Road and the airport. According to Met Department, visibility is restricted up to 100 metres.
Moreover, the dense fog has also affected domestic and international flight traffic. Flights coming in from Istanbul, Dammam and Jeddah were delayed while flights to Sukkur, Rahim Yar Khan, Mumbai, Bhawalpur, and Faisalabad were cancelled.
The Motorway police have also urged the drivers to drive slowly and use their fog lights to prevent any mishap. They have also requested people to stay home, avoid unnecessary travelling and not use their mobile phones while driving.
