LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday restrained the guardian courts from charging bailiff fee in family matters, including recovery of children.
The court while issuing restraining order also sought reply from the Lahore High Court registrar and other respondents.
Petitioner counsel FahadSiddiqui submitted that the guardian courts in family matters, especially related to recovery of children, appoint bailiff for which these courts were charging Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 from parties. He said that these courts were not authorised to impose such tax or recover the bailiff fee.
He asserted that charging of bailiff fee was against the law. He requested the court to restraint these courts from recovering bailiff fee and also declare it illegal.
