LAHORE: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sunday ended their nine-day long strike in public hospitals across Punjab.
After the assertion, YDA has announced to resume their duties from Monday. They have said that doctors hope that government will soon issue a written notification in this regard.
YDA senior president Dr Atif Chaudhry along with other office bearers, during a press conference at Services Hospital, told media that they had successful negations with high officials of Health Department and they had accepted their demands.
It is pertinent to mention here that doctors staged massive protests against central induction policy and over reservations on employment criteria in various cities of Punjab. Outdoor patient departments (OPD) at the major public hospitals remained shut, as a result of which patients and their relatives had to face difficulties. Only indoor patient departments (IPD) and emergencies remained functional.
However, the government took notice of the protest finally, and assured the YDA of doubling the seats in post-graduation whereas the doctors working in remote areas will be provided with residence and additional allowance.
