KARACHI: PATA Pakistan chapter is hosting Peace Ambassador for International Institute of Peace Through Tourism and Skal International Cassie De Pecol, who is coming to Pakistan as part of her epic venture to break a Guinness World Record by becoming the first female to travel fastest to all 196 sovereign countries of the world.
An adventure person from the United States, De Pecol commenced her journey in July last year and has till the end of this month to complete her mission. This is a part of her work is to meet university students to discuss responsible tourism
and economics.
Earlier this year, she had visited Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka in the Asian region but it took PATA’s intervention and the personal good offices of Chairman Akbar A Shareef to facilitate her visa formalities enabling her visit now to Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
While in Pakistan from December 13 to 17, De Pecol will be meeting youth at leading universities in Pakistan like IBA in Karachi, BNU in Lahore and COMSATS in Islamabad, and also the Rotary Club Pakistan. She will have sightseeing tours in Karachi and Lahore courtesy the respective Tourism Development Corporations. PATA Pakistan chapter is being supported for De Pecol’s programme in Pakistan by leading PR agency, Asiatic Public Relations Network, who is arranging talks in educational institutes, meetings with the media and get together with bloggers and social media activists in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
The high point of her engagements will be a reception by the PATA Pakistan chapter, calling all sectors of Pakistan’s tourism industry and administration. She will also meet Mayor of Karachi Waseem Akhtar, with whom she will participate in a tree plantation ceremony in the provincial metropolis.
