KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah directed the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) to take necessary measures to bring insurances services in sales tax net.
The CM said this while presiding a meeting with SRB Chairman Khalid Mahmood at the CM House on Tuesday. Finance Secretary Hassan Naqvi was also present on this occasion.
Murad discussed various issues regarding SRB and Sindh Sales Tax, including the issues of sales tax on the services of life insurance, health insurance, restaurants, etc.
Appreciating the revenue board’s performance, the CM emphasised the need of making relentless efforts to achieve the assigned target of Rs78 billion for the current financial year.
Khalid Mahmood said that the SRB has surpassed its six months target by 21 per cent.
Murad also directed to take decisions regarding various administrative and technical issues in SRB. He directed the SRB chairman to maximize the collection of tax while, simultaneously, facilitating the taxpayers and simplifying the procedures.
He directed Mahmood to make efforts to construct SRB office at a suitable location. The CM said, “You must have a separate office in your own building”.
