LAHORE: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested nine members of an inter-district gang involved in heinous crime and recovered more than Rs 6 million, gold ornaments, cell phones, illegal weapons and other valuables from them.
Those arrested were involved in different criminal activities in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Pakpattan, Nankana Sahib and other cities of the province, said Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Captain (r) Amin Wains during a press conference at the Police Lines Qilla Gujjar Singh. DIG Investigation Chaudhry Sultan, CIA SP Tariq Ellahi Masttoei, SP CRO Imran Yaqoob were also present.
Separately, Garhi Shahu Sector In-charge Inspector Iqbal Hameed and Traffic Warden Mehboob Aslam Saturday arrested a drug peddler near Davis Road and recovered heavy amount of alcohol from him.
According to the details, traffic officials intercepted an auto rickshaw near Davis Road and recovered 44 half bottles and four full bottles of alcohol. As per initial investigation the arrested accused told police that he had been selling alcohol for quite a long period of time. DIG Traffic Capt (r) Syed Ahmad Mobeen has appreciated the effort of the inspector and the traffic warden.
