LARKANA: Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) Larkana has removed five of its employees over charges of corruption and negligence in duties and punished 118 other employees. The removed employees include two line superintendents – Abdul Razak Soomro and Abdul Haq Rahoojo of Miro Khan and Qambar respectively. The other three include assistant line superintendents of Jinnah Bagh Sub-Division Larkana, who have retired from service. They are Muhammad Sajan, Mir Hassan Luhar and Ashok Kumar.
Moreover, annual increments of 60 employees have also been withheld while 58 employees have been reverted to their previous posts. In this regard, SEPCO Larkana Executive Engineer, Mushtaque Burdi said that action was taken against employees from basic scale 1 to 11. He said that during 2016, 411 complaints of corruption and other charges were received out of which 125 were found correct and a probe was underway against the 286 other employees.
Burdi said that if complaints were proved, strict action would be taken against them as well. On the other hand WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labour Union called an emergency meeting which was presided over by its Regional Chairman Nisar Ahmed Shaikh. In the meeting, it was decided that a movement would be started against the decision of removing low paid employees which they termed intolerable. Shaikh said that labourers would daily fasten black bands on their arms for two hours till the issue is resolved. He said that they had defended their employees and would continue to do so in the future as well.
