KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah broke his silence over sending Sindh Police IG A.D. Khawaja on forced leave.
Dispelling rumours that the chief minister is taking direct orders from Dubai, where PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari resides, he said, “In Sindh all decisions are taken by the Chief Minister. Yes, important matters are discussed with others,” he said.
He said IG Sindh Police A.D. Khawaja voluntarily went on leave, adding that the Sindh government was allowed to change officials.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah discharged IG Sindh Police A.D. Khawaja of all duties on Monday and sent him on 15-day leave.
Responsibilities of IG Sindh Police have been handed over to Additional IG Mushtaq Mehar, according to a notification.
It is pertinent to mention that this decision has faced much criticism from the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and from retired IGs of Police Service of Pakistan who have expressed their concern on this move by the provincial government.
