ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday appointed Major General Muhammad Saeed as the new Sindh Rangers director general.
The COAS also appointed Major General Nadeem Anjum as the Balochistan Frontier Constabulary (FC) inspector general. According to Inter-Services Public Relations, Major General Muhammad Saeed has been appointed in the place of Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar who has been appointed as chief of general staff at the General Headquarters. New CGS Lt General Bilal Akbar comes with a vast experience of dealing with internal security matters. His transfer of indicates the new COAS would like to give priority to internal security.
Major General Saeed is presently the Hyderabad general officer commanding. The post of DG Rangers is of high importance because of the continuing Karachi operation against criminal elements, which began in September 2013. New Balochistan FC Inspector General Major General Nadeem Anjum has been given new responsibilities in place of Lieutenant General Sher Afgan. Both officers will resume their new offices soon.
Both Muhammad Saeed and Nadeem Anjum were promoted to major general from the rank of brigadier in January 2016. Earlier on Sunday, the Pakistan Army had made significant postings and transfers, including the transfer of ISI Director General Lt General Rizwan Akhtar and Sindh Rangers Director General Lt General Bilal Akbar.
