LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has seized over 1000 kg emaciated and diseased chicken during crackdown against the shopkeepers who were involved in selling unhygienic chicken meat in Tollinton Market, on Friday. According to the details, PFA Samnabad Town Food Safety Officer Tahira Kalsoom along with team members recovered hundreds of diseased hens from the spot. According to Tahira Kalsoom, a large quantity of abnormally thin and weak hens/Chicken were recovered and action is to be taken against the concerned persons according to law. She said that unhygienic meat causes several health diseases specially among children. She said that PFA crackdowns will be continued till elimination of all involved in this crime. PFA has decided to hold cleanliness competition for Tollinton Market’s shopkeepers in order to create awareness about maintaining cleanliness in shops and to keep germ-free chicken. Authorities announced Rs 50,000 amount as a reward and certificates to be distributed among winner participants.
